Reports
on
3rd Students' Exchange
in
Denmark
On Tuesday
the 30th of September 2016 we, Paula Schnedl, Viktoria Petritsch,
Michelle Steinkellner, Verena Fössl, Vanessa Vörös, Lisa Strohmeyer, Selina
Stolz, Sabrina Sattler and our teachers Miss Prenn and Mister Fiechtl started
the journey to our destination Aalborg (Denmark). We met each other at the
train station Judenburg on the evening. The students said goodbye to the parents
and the sisters and brothers, took the luggage and got in the train to Vienna
central train station. Everyone sat down and the train started to move. We were
really excited because no-one of us knew what we have to expect from Denmark. During the drive we got in contact with
everyone and we had much fun together. After the 2 hours in the train we were
exhausted at the Vienna central station. We determined to bring the luggage in
the hotel before we went for some food.
We started
early on the next morning. We took the train at 5 am und arrived a bit later at
the airport in Vienna. After our arrival at the Airport we reserved some seats
in the plane. We took our boarding tickets and checked us in. We couldn’t
believe that we were in Denmark in some hours. We were really glad to be a part
of the Erasmus + project. We were sitting in the waiting room when suddenly the
staff allowed us to go in the plane. We flew with the Austrian airlines. We
stowed our hand luggage and sat down. The stewardess explained us the safety
instructions and we rolled to the runway. Some of us felt really queasy, but
the breath-taking view and the support of the others helped us. On board we got
a delicious breakfast. The 1 ½ hours in the plane flew by.
We arrived
at Copenhagen, took our luggage and headed for our Hotel. It was called Island
Hotel. After we found our Hotel and checked in, we went by train to the centre.
We had some free time to get some food and afterwards we walked along the
streets. We were fascinated by the small, coloured houses and the harbour was
incredible. A bit tired and exhausted we went back to our Hotel und took our
luggage and brought it to the hotel room. The rooms were bright and beautiful
and the best was the view to the sea.
This evening we had free time. Many of us
stayed in the hotel, the others walked to the shopping mall next to our hotel
and some just sat on the bench and enjoyed the beautiful view.
After
a relaxing night, we woke up on Saturday to start our first day in “Kopenhaven”
and went straightaway to the nearby shoppingcenter to have breakfast. As soon
as we were awake and our hunger satisfied, we made our way to the city centre
to get tickets for a sightseeing boat trip around Copenhagen. Shipping through
the canals of Copenhagen, we saw attractions like the Opera House, the
Playhouse, the Royall Palace and the famous Little Mermaid. After the boat
trip, we decided to have a closer look at the Palace and its gardens. At the
Royal Palace, we were lucky to see the end of the shift and how the guards left
the palace for the weekend. Afterwards, we visited the modern museum, which was
part of the palace, and walked through the royal gardens to have a closer look
at the “Little Mermaid”. After taking many photos, we decided that it was time
for lunch, so we went to the street food market, where they offer different
kinds of food throughout the year. When we had finally found our favourite
food, we sat down by the sea and watched the seagulls. Again, we took some
photos, and then we finally got back to our hotel, where most of us fell asleep
for a few hours, because we were so exhausted. In the evening, we all met at
the mall again to grab something to eat and drink. Back at the hotel, we sat
together till late at night, until we finally went to bed. Exhausted, but also
excited for the next day, we fell asleep.
On the
third day we get up early and went after a good breakfast to the train station.
After six hours in the train we arrived in Aalborg. All host families were
waiting there with little Denmark flags as exhausted as us to meet their
exchange student. Finally we all went to the place where we will live four the
next few days.
On our
fourth day we went to the school for the first time. We all met in the assembly hall of the school.
The headmaster was waiting there for us and welcomed us to Denmark. Then our
exchange students show us the whole school. The school in Aalborg is very big.
They have a lot of places for sports also a swimming pool. After that we do
some games were we get to know each other better. The games were at the same
time a little brain training and also the rhythm of our Erasmus+ song. In the
afternoon we went to a building in the centre from Aalborg called “Nordkarft”. We got split in groups there and afterwards
some students showed us famous places from their city. We went to a park,
called the “singing tree Park”, where under every tree is a button from a
popular singer who has been in Denmark until now. If you press the button you
hear the song which the star sang at his concert in Denmark. They also showed
us the popular “Limfjordsbroen“ bridge, a street with popular bars, the “aalborgtårnet”
and the house of music. After the tour our host families had picked us up and
we spent the evening with them.
Today we met at the Sofiendalskolenschool at half past
8 in Aalborg, Denmark. There we heard a presentation about “Sirius”. The
teacher told us, that there are special classrooms with less students to offer
the children with a disability (for example ADHS) a good teaching. These
classes are called “Sirius”. ADHS is a diagnosis where people cannot sit
quietly or they cannot concentrate for a long time because they are
hyperactive. 3 students with ADHS explained their daily routine to us and how
“Sirius” helps them at school. After they had told us everything in detail we
had a short break.
After eating our food, we got an “Artworkshop”. We
went outside the school where 5 tree trunks were standing. We were divided into
groups and got a protection for our clothes. After that we were told to spray
the tree trunks with 2 different colours and put some utensils on them. So we
were very creative and in the end the normal tree trunks became works of art. We
carried them into the school and after that we got a very good meal from the
school cafeteria. After this wonderful morning we went home and had some time
to spend with our host families.
On Thursday the whole Eramus
group met at 8 am at the school. in order to head off at 8.15 to Arhus, the
second biggest city of Denmark. Unfortunately, our bus was a little bit late,
because there was an accident on the highway. When our bus arrived half an hour
later, the teachers, as well as the students, were really delighted. A few
minutes later, we set off to Arhus and reached the museum of the Vikings at
around 10.30 am. After taking our jackets off, we got divided into groups. A
short introduction of the tour guide and then we finally went into the museum. Once
again, we had to split up into five people. Each small group got a key with a
symbol and each one had to follow the story of one special person. There were
different stops, where you could listen to some parts of the person’s life. In
the end we had to sum up what we had learnt, while we were walking through the
museum. After exchanging our new experiences, we were supposed to find one word
that fits to the character we had learnt about. Our next step was to draw the
word we had chosen before and how it looks like in the „Present“, the „Past“
and in the „Future“. When we finished our painting, we went to a hall, where
you can watch a very old skeleton of a human.
Back in the bus, we headed
off to the city of Arhus. While we were driving, we were eating our lunch
paket, which had been prepared by our host family the day before. About twenty
minutes later we arrived in the town. Splitted up into groups, we were allowed
to walk through the streets for an hour.
Our next stop was a Modern
Art museum with a huge rainbow on the top. There was a group for the Danish
people and one for the other countries. At first, we watched some Mordern Art
creatings, like a huge buildung of a human and a destroyed Lamborghini. Some
time later, we went to the very top of the building. Our whole group thought
that walking through the rainbow was the highlight of the day. You had a great
view over Arhus in many different colours.
At 3 pm, we took our bus
back to school. Our host families were already waiting for us, when we arrived
there about two hours later. It was a great day in Arhus with many new
experiences!
On Friday morning we started our
day in school at half past 9. We got divided in 3 different groups. People from
each country got combined with the people from Denmark. Further there were some
kids from the Sirius project who also took part in the workshops. We composed
songs with the melody of brother John and played different games. After the
workshops we ate at school and the majority of us went home to get dressed for
the evening. We met each other again in school at 2:45 p.m. to learn the
Erasmus project song “colours of a butterfly”. The composer of this song Anders
Hornshoj helped us so we were able to performed the song for the host parents.
After we performed our song we ate, talked and laughed with our host families.
Later each country had to show an activity. The Danish people began and Frederikke
Hellerup showed an amazing performance of robe skipping. Then Iga Brzinska, a
polish student, sang with a beautiful voice. The people from Spain showed a
game and the Austrians showed a ball dance known as the “Walzer”. When all the
activities were done there was a tearful farewell. In the end the Polish, Spanish, Danish and Austrian students met at the school club for a last
goodbye.
