The school has obtained the status of Lower Secondary School with individualized education units. They have a class with physically or mentally disabled students at each level. The class is shared by handicapped students and those with intellectual norm. Students that have mild mental retardation and moderate mental retardation, students that are hard of hearing, visually impaired, physically disabled, students that have behavioural disorders, autism and Asperger syndrome are taught there.
The building of the school is adjusted to the needs of our students. There is an elevator and space for the individual work with handicapped students. Moreover, the school staff are well qualified experts. The school headmistress is an oligophrenic pedagogue and an expert in pedagogical therapy. They also have also an expert in typhlopedagogy, surdopedagogy and P.E. teacher who is a physiotherapist. One of the teachers is an expert in teaching handicapped students in the Center of Teacher Education in Konin. She conducts trainings, workshops and staff meetings in order to improve the process of teaching handicapped students in educational institutions in Konin.
Every year there is an integration picnic in our school and it is an opportunity  to maintain cooperation with institutions taking care of the needs of the handicapped. There are regular workshops to familiarize all the students with the topic of disability.
They have been organizing Boccia competition for 8 years and our school has obtained the patronage of the Polish Boccia  Federation of Handicapped People. We have been taking part and achieving success in competitions not only in our city but all Wielkopolska county.


The school has been taking part in many projects such as:
- 'Make a step' project conducted by AISEC organization, the project assumes cooperation with students from different countries that come to our school to conduct cultural classes in the English language,
- ' A young citizen' project, it is a Polish project that promotes the knowledge of local community and shows what actions students can take in their local environment.
- PO WER project which is an additional source of funding for Erasmus+ KA1 action( EU funds), we were accepted to the programme in December 2014. Our teachers are going to take part in the English language and methodology courses in the UK and job shadowing in Germany.

The school is a quite a young school and they have never taken part in a students exchange project and it will be our first experience.
