Our active Saturday with Foundation Podaj Dalej and basketball team on wheelchairs - Mustang

On Saturday 20th February our Erasmus Team with other pupils from our school attended a basketball match for disabled players from Funacja “Podaj Dalej”.
We were cheering a team called MUSTANG very loudly. They played really well and it was a pleasure to see them in action. We had a great time. Also, during the match we organised a charity for Fundacja by selling cakes and biscuits baked by the pupils from our school. They were delicious and a lot of visitors bought them.
The headmistress of our school accompanied us, too. It was such an encouraged event.
That Saturday was very inspiring for everyone and we are sure that we will cheer Mustang Team very soon.

They talked about how their school day is structured and their every day life and what challenges they are facing having to live a life with a psychiatric diagnose.

Open-day at the BG/BRG Judenburg

If the schoolbuilding is getting crowded with a lot of young students then the BG/BRG Judenburg celebrates in a traditional way its “open day”. A lot of young primary pupils accompanied by their parents followed the invitation to visit the BG/BRG Judenburg. They could enjoy a diversified programme in order to get an impression of the school.
On the programme were different subject like Sports, English, Information Technology, Science, Biology and also the Erasmus+ project was presented.
The dissemination activities of the Erasmus+ project was split in 2 parts.

The first part covered an extensive presentation of the project and activities included. Viktoria, Verena and Michelle described in their oral presentation the following points:

  •                 What is Erasmus+
  •                 Who can participate?
  •                 Which opportunities does Erasmus+ offer?
  •                 Students’ exchanges
  •                 Description of the current Erasmus+ project: Crossing Borders

Viktoria, Verena, Michelle and Paula were very busy presenting the project, as they had to repeat their presentation six times.

The second part of our dissemination activities were covered by two information desks prepared by the students themselves. At these information desk other students (Lisa, Sabrina, Vanessa, Stocki, Steini, Carina, Sarah, Patricia, Anja, Alexandra, Mathias, Julian,) involved in the project approached visitors and informed them in private talks about the project. Project students had also prepared project brochures, which they handed out to visitors. The activities at the information desk were very challenging for some students, because their task was to contact foreign visitors and start a talk with them. However, the students did an excellent job, learned new communicative strategies and enjoyed talking to the visitors in the end.

Cooperation with Fundation "Podaj Dalej"

Last Moday ( 1st February 2016) we visited Fudation „ Podaj Dalej” where we could learn a lot about their acctivities, main goals or about different disabilities. We could also visit  the building which is very modern and well equipped. On the walls we could admire beautiful photos showing disabled people and their passions.
Our guides were presidents of Fundation: Mr Karol WƂodarczyk and Mrs Zuzanna Janaszek - Maciaszek, daughter of dr Piotr Janaszek, patron of Fundation -  a well-known community worker and physician who took care of the disabled people. Piotr Janaszek's daughter continues his mission after his tragic death in December 1998.

There we could also meet two disabled men, Maciej and Marek, on wheelchairs and we were listening to the true story about their lives which were very tragical in consequences. Fortunatelly, thanks to the Fundation  they can now live a normal life doing different things. And nowadays they share their experience with other people in need and this way they pass the help on. Additionally, Marek is a member of wheelchair basketball team, KSS Mustang. We find it very brave and amazing and we are very proud of them. Name of organisation means in English "Pass it on" because their mission is to share experience and help more and more people in finding hapinness and satisfaction despite of their disabilities.
This meeting gave us not only the knowledge of the work of Fundation but also the faith in the great meaning of  existence the Fundation “Podaj Dalej”. They really do a great job.
